Love

My definition of love is often questioned
By situations and people and others not mentioned
There are so many forms that this one word takes
Are there many a types in this four letter baked?
The soldier who loves the country and dies in its name
The mother's love for a child that cures any pain
The lover's love for his beloved that hurts more than it heals
The child's love for the parent who is a hero in all that's real.
The sister's love for a brother that is sweeter than sugar or honey
The pet's love for his master that knows no greed or money
So many versions of this small word that holds
The entire world in awe of its many folds
I believe it is the same, in its core, in its ways
Whoever holds it in their heart is living it every day
Whether it's within a soldier's chest, or in the hands of the lover
In the arms of the mother, or the eyes of the brother
It brings the same sense of warmth
And a kind smile to the face
It makes the world, a beautiful place
It lifts one's spirits high enough
To make them win the scene
Whether on the battlefield or in the mothers dream
It gives you strength to be yourself
And do all that can be done
And that is all the love is
Many hearts, but the feeling's one.

The sea and me

I sit by the sea and hear it roar
An angry wave that begins to soar
Then as it falls in a pleasing splash
It is quietened like a flame that burns to ash
The appeasement is such a pleasing sound
As it gently recedes away from the ground
To rise again in a violent tone
It hits and cuts into the hardest stone
And then as it recedes quietly into the sea
It cleans the sand of all its misery
The sea, the sand, the rocks tell a story
Of anger and strength and triumph and glory
Of strength to rise against the tide
And power and fury in every stride
Of determination to breakdown the hardest rock
An impossible mission, a challenge, a shock
And even though the water seems powerless as it splashes
Against the rock unmoved by the lashes
But slowly and gradually in eternal time
The impossible happens, unknown to mankind
And once where there were stones and rocks aplenty
There is only sand so smooth, so small, so dainty
And in the end it's peace that prevails
And happiness ever after at the end of every tale.

Me and only me

If people are dismissive,
Let them be
I am who I am
And I am proud of me.

If they do not see my point
It's their loss, not mine
Everyone has their own truth
Mine's just hard to find.

If they think I am rude
They can hold that thought
The people who care
Know what all I've got.

If they think they can run me over.
Because I am quiet as a tomb
They do not see the phoenix
Rising in my womb.

I searched for many years
For that someone who would always be.
After many an attempt I realize
It is me and only me.

Just before light

I went for a walk,
Just before the light
Brought an end
To the starry night.
I wore his coat to avoid the wind
As the cool breeze tried to brush my skin.
I walked a little fast
For no reason or rhyme.
Had nowhere to reach
No restriction of time.
I kept looking around
Not up nor down
There was not much to see with the sun still down.
There were a few walkers
Who liked the break of dawn
To make a fresh start
Like a new born fawn.
As I walked looking ahead
I could see a tree
Right down my track
Like a collision waiting it be
But I dint change my track
Nor rattled my rack
Kept walking towards it
Like wanting to crack.
Just before I hit
The tree straight ahead
I swerved to the side
With swag and no care.
And no one was hurt
Neither me nor the tree
We survived the catastrophe
Like it was meant to be.
And I realized that I can do this with everything in my way
Without changing my pace
Or worrying all day
I can deal with everything with some swag and a sway
And nothing will ever ruin my day.
